95 electric cart problem

Have a 1995 EZGO electric cart, this issue is, you can creep along with no problems, all the power to pull a hill. As you press the pedal to go faster, it starts to shake as if it were slipping, no matter how far you press the pedal it continues to shake or shimmy. Could this be the variable speed control going out? Also need electrical wiring schematic for this cart. Thanks

Re: 95 electric cart problem

My guess would be either the batteries need charging or the rear brake hub spline is slipping.

batteries fully charged, going up a steep slow there is no problem. Wouldn't it slip in the hub no matter what the speed?

The hubs slip when under the stress of power application like fast acceleration or going up a hill. What happens when you start out pushing the throttle to the floor?
It might even be the throttle control or the controller.
Is this a series motor or DCS (shunt/sepex) motor cart? DCS carts have a run/tow switch on the controller cover.

95 s/b a late model Medalist pre DCS. A lot of the time this symptom traces back to battery(ies) or a loose connection.

Good luck.

If you got a voltmeter you can tape the leads to the battery pack and lay the meter on the seat. What kind of pack voltage readings do you get standing still... running slow and when it shakes?

36 volts is empty full charge should read 38.4 (+/-) see the attached SOC chart. You can use a hydrometer to find a dead cell. One dead cell cripples a battery.

All battery voltage and specific gravity reading can only be taken 1-12hrs after charging has finished.....

You could also check across each battery untill you find which ones are dropping voltage underload
