I hear a click, but no-go
 

I picked up a used 48v a month or so ago and have driven it off and on and it have functioned fine (minus the battery terminal corrosion which I took care of). Today I unplugged it, turned the key, flipped it into R, stepped on it and... CLICK. Nada... nothing. I lifted the seat and kept stepping on it and I saw a spark from one of the battery terminals of the top right battery.

Spark indicates a bad or damaged connection. Remove the wires where the spark happened and clean them good. Reassemble and see if it works. Measure the total battery voltage when you try to go and I bet it is dropping down to nothing.

I made sure that the battery connections are clean and tight. This is what happens when I step on the pedal...(video)

What is the battery pack and each battery voltage? Then what's the condition of the terminals and cable ends? Sounds like a bad connection to me.

The first thing you need to do is clean or replace all of your cable ends because the next problem that's going to happen is that your battery posts are going to melt. Second you need to replace all of the battery tie downs that are missing.

I used a baking powder mixture and a toothbrush. Think I should try steel wool?

If it was me I would get battery cleaner at Walmart or auto parts store. And a wire brush about the size of a toothbrush for the ring terminals. But some of them are in need of replacing. Especially the ones with the blue crusty stuff. That probably has eaten way back into the wire where you can't see under the insulation.

Edit: A brass wire brush if you can find one.

OK, did I mess up? I hooked up my multimeter to the positive and negative of the battery series....SPARKS
